International Fashion Awards 2006: Indian model misses first fashion show.

The International Fashion Awards’ first fashion parade went smoothly on Wednesday night, although Indian model Namrita could not participate in the show.
Pakistani models displayed formal, bridal and casual clothing for men and women by five prominent designer labels - Black, Arshad’s, Amna Malik, Aasia Sayal and Ittehad Fabrics.

The male fashion parade was as interesting as the female one. However, certain new female models were not very comfortable on the ramp. There were eight male models including Meekal, Emad, Suhail and Wasi Butt, and 15 female models including Neha, Rabia Ahmed, Sara Gillani, Mehreen Syed, Irum Bokhari, Aleena, Fiza Ali, Sanam Agha and Noray.

Rehan Syed from Kamber Entertainment told Daily Times that the Indian model could not participate in the fashion show because she could not get a visa. He said models from more than 12 countries would participate in the event. Minister for State Aneesa Zaib, the guest of honour, told Daily Times that such shows project a soft image of Pakistan. She said hardliners had their own point of view, but fashion designers had a right to show their creativity and find a market abroad. She said the textile industry should be supported and fashion shows were important in this regard. There will be another fashion show choreographed by Nomi Qamar today (Thursday).

International Fashion Awards Exhibition at Pearl Continental: International Fashion Awards Exhibition 2006 was organised by Style Duniya and Kamber Entertainment at Pearl Continental Hotel on Wednesday. Punjab Governor’s wife Rubina Khalid inaugurated the exhibition. Depilex Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mussarrat Misbah, Kamber Entertainment CEO Rehan, designers, models and fashion freaks attended the exhibition. Rubina Kahlid praised the work by the participants and hoped that such events would help promote Pakistani fashion locally and abroad.

There were over 10 stalls which displayed cosmetic products, clothing dresses and other fashion accessories by famous brands like Karma, HSY, Aasia Sayal, Black, Arshad and Amna Malik.

Charity fashion show at Royal Palm: The city’s fashion gurus gathered at a charity fashion show held at Royal Palm Golf and Country Club on Tuesday.

The fashion show was organised by Depilex Smile Again and Designer Asad Tareen to help burnt women. The show was arranged on a lawn, but was held in a hall as it started to rain. Despite the rain, fashion lovers kept pouring in numbers and saw the show without being seated.

Designers Faiza, Nomi Ansari and Zahra Kachelo displayed their bridal, formal and casual wear designs, which were exhibited by top models like Vaneeza, ZQ, Mehreen Syed, Maha, Nadia Ali, Taniya, Meesha, Faiza, Hina and Sara Gillani.

Mussarat Misbah of Depilex said she had been in the profession for the last 25 years and knew how to make women beautiful. It was however hard for her to make burnt women’s faces normal again but she tried her best and had treated 30 women in three years.
